Thinking Big: Addressing two of seven UK-specific social challenges, including redressing the wealth imbalance between generations A UK think tank (Resolution Foundation) has proposed bold measures to address two of UK's biggest challenges: 1) boosting the ability of the millennial generation to fully participate in society (e.g. saving toward a home downpayment): the proposal is a £10k citizen's inheritance fund for each young person achieving age 25; 2) restoring the financial security of the NHS: the proposal is to generate a £2.3bn additional levy for the NHS funded by new national insurance (NI) contributions from pensioners.

Agree or not, it is welcomed to see big proposals to move the needle on social justice issues.

Further proposals needed to tackle 3) violent (knife/acid) crime in London; 4) political disenfranchisement; 5) the growing number of working poor in UK; 6) ensuring a quality education to participate in the digital economy, which would ease the opportunity gap between the Southeast (London area) and the rest of the UK; 7) ensuring the 4 fundamental British values are internalized throughout British society (democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs, and for those without faith).
